At Emerald & Embers, we run wooden block printing workshops that are about so much more than learning a craft. For us, it’s about forging meaningful connections—connecting with your creativity, with others, and with the timeless tradition of block printing. There’s something magical about working with your hands, taking simple materials, and transforming them into something uniquely yours. It’s a process that’s calming, rewarding, and satisfying.

The name ‘Emerald & Embers’ comes from Jenny's love of autumn—its rich greens, deep reds, and fiery oranges are a perfect reflection of creativity and transformation. “Emerald” speaks to the beauty of nature, balance and elegance, while “Embers” represents warmth and the spark of creativity that’s always ready to ignite something new.

We love handmade things, the charm of imperfection, and the joy of creating alongside others. Our workshops are a space where you can explore your creative spark, spend time with friends or family, and connect with an art form steeped in history. Whether you’re looking to try something new, share a special experience, or simply rediscover your creativity, we'd love for you to join us.

Jenny Rampling

Founder & Owner, Emerald & Embers

Hi! I’m Jenny, the founder of Emerald & Embers, and I’m so excited to share my love for block printing with you. My journey into this beautiful art form began unexpectedly when my friends, Amy and Di, showed me something they had block printed and it was love at first sight! Within weeks, I found myself on a course, soaking in every moment, and knew this was what I wanted to do! From that point on, block printing became an inseparable part of my life.

Before starting this creative adventure, I spent over twenty years in the higher education sector, leading teams in student recruitment, student services, and business improvements. While it was a rewarding career, I have always wanted to embrace my creative side.

I live in the beautiful city of Cambridge with my partner, Matt, and our daughter, Mia, whose creativity never ceases to amaze me! Alongside running workshops, I volunteer in the art department of a local primary school and as an Ambassador for Brave Starts, which helps people over 45 navigate career transitions.

Emerald and Embers is more than a business; it’s a space to connect, create, and discover the joy of making something uniquely yours and I can’t wait to welcome you.

Lisa Rampling

Events, Emerald & Embers

Hi, I’m Lisa! I live in Bury St Edmunds with my husband, Bill, and am a proud grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren, aged 5 to 12. They constantly inspire me with their boundless energy and enthusiasm for trying new things.

As soon as Jen shared her vision for Emerald & Embers, I knew I wanted to be involved. I was immediately drawn to the idea of helping people discover Indian block printing, and I love being part of the workshops - seeing people experiment, create, and leave with something they’re truly proud of.

When I’m not helping with workshops, I spend time volunteering at St Nicholas Hospice shop, Suffolk Wildlife Trust Centre at Lackford Lakes, the Theatre Royal, and West Suffolk Hospital. Each of these roles is different, but they all give me the chance to connect with people and use my skills in meaningful ways.

I’m so excited to welcome you to a workshop and see what beautiful designs you’ll create!
